Dear Parents… Reading

September 9, 2011

In year 1 we read with your children in small groups twice a week.  We will give out new books at the start of the week and then re-read the same text towards the end of the week when they have had the opportunity to do some home reading.

Each morning you are welcome to change your child’s book corner book using the family group folders, the same as they were in Reception.

Thank you.

We are very proud of your children and thank you for all your support in year 1. Today we had a talent competition and yet again your children excelled!  Goodbye, good luck and we wish you a happy time in year 2.

Sunflower Sale

July 7, 2011

We planted sunflower seeds and have taken good care of them.  What did we need to give them to grow well?

We held a sale to sell the sunflowers and refreshments.

Harvesting Potatoes

June 24, 2011

This week we dug up our potatoes we had grown ourselves.  We had quite a few different sized potatoes.  We finely chopped them up and made them into crisps.  They tasted a little different from normal crisps because they were much healthier!

Grass monsters!

June 23, 2011

The children designed their own grass monster on paper and then made this using a cup and several other types of materials.  They filled it with soil, put grass seed on the top and then put it by the window.  What do you think  they had to give it to make it grow?

Road safety

June 10, 2011

This morning we had two community police officers come and talk to use about crossing the road safely.  We had a lovely demonstration in the hall and then all practised crossing the road safely outside school.
